At the end of June, the Emirate had announced a plan to re-open its borders to air travel starting from July 7 amid a host of COVID-19 precautions.

A statement issued online today by the Dubai Media Office (DMO), showed His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum inspecting preparations and health and safety measures at Dubai International Airport ahead of receiving foreign tourists from today.

As per the DMO, during his tour of the airport, His Highness stated: “Today, we send a message of hope and optimism to the world that we are able to resume the achievements and write success stories that have long been written by Dubai thanks to the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.”
