Oman’s Supreme Committee for COVID-19 has announced several new decisions after convening today [Tuesday, July 7] to discuss developments of the pandemic in the Sultanate.
In a statement issued online, the Supreme Committee has stated that it has decided to increase punishments for those who repeatedly violate COVID-19 directives, stating that it will take strict action against such individuals — and may publish their names and pictures across various media.
Secondly, the Committee stated that, in an effort to decrease the effects of the pandemic on the private sector, along with the financial burden that has affected tax-paying companies — particularly SMEs — a new set of regulations related to taxation will be announced in detail shortly by Oman’s Tax Authority.
