Second suspect in UK murder of Omani student arrested

A second suspect has been arrested and charged with the murder of 20-year-old Mohammed Al-Araimi, an Omani student studying in the UK who was the victim of a stabbing in London’s Knightsbridge district on December 5, 2019.

In a statement from the Metropolitan Police (MP), the second suspect, Arseboon Dilbaro, age 22, was arrested and charged on Tuesday [July 14] shortly after his arrival at London Heathrow Airport on a flight from Egypt.

As per the MP, Dilbaro is facing charges of “murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, attempted robbery, and threatening a person with a blade/sharply pointed article in a public place.”

He is scheduled to appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court today [Wednesday, July 15].

A second suspect in the case, Badir Rahim Alnazi, age 24, was arrested in connection with Al-Araimi’s death on January 9, 2020 and faces charges of “murder, attempted robbery, and possession of a bladed article,” the MP reported in its statement.

After appearing at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court, Alnazi was taken into custody and awaits his next appearance date at the Old Bailey.

At the time of the incident, a second 20-year-old man who was a friend of Al-Araimi, had also suffered injuries during the attack and was discharged after being treated in hospital.
