ROP carry out crackdowns on COVID-19 violations in 3 governorates

As authorities in Oman continue to crack down on infringements of COVID-19 health and safety regulations, since yesterday [Tuesday, June 2], the Royal Oman Police (ROP) have carried out the following actions against violators across three governorates, Oman’s Government Communications Centre (GC) has announced:

In North Al Batinah Governorate ROP authorities have detained a number of Omani citizens on charges of gathering in violation of decisions by the Supreme Committee for COVID-19.

Police in Al Dhakiliyah Governorate have also detained a number of Omani citizens on charges of gathering in violation of the Supreme Committee for COVID-19’s regulations.

ROP officials in South Al Batinah have issued a fine against a restaurant in the governorate for failing to adhere to protective measures and regulations against the spread of COVID-19 that apply to those commercial activities allowed to operated as per Supreme Committee directives.

The GC has also confirmed that information circulating about several shop closures in the Seeb area is true, and that the establishments were closed for failing to comply with health and safety regulations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
