Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, has announced the launch of a 400km desert trek to raise funds for the charitable organization ‘Walking with the Wounded’ which supports former UK military service personnel and veterans.
As the BBC reports, the ‘Walk of Oman’ trek — which is being organized in cooperation with the Omani armed forces — is set to take place by the end of the year and will see a team cross the Empty Quarter while towing a 300kg (660lb) cart of provisions.
Participants will aim to walk 20km per day, as temperatures reach up to 35 degrees Celsius.
As quote by the BBC, Prince Harry said: “At the end of this year, a year that has seen unprecedented global challenges, a group of veterans will be tackling a challenge unlike anything they’ve faced before.
“Facing searing temperatures and pulling a cart that weighs more than three times their own body weight, these veterans will need to summon incredible physical and mental strength.”
