Oman’s Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA), has confirmed that the body of a missing Omani citizen has been recovered after a 16-hour combined search and rescue effort in North Al Batinah.
In a statement issued online today [Thursday, July 2] PACDA authorities confirmed that the remains of the deceased, who drowned in coastal waters off a stretch of beach in the Wilayat of Saham, were located by rescue teams after a lengthy search operation carried out in cooperation with the teams from the Royal Oman Police, the Coast Guard, and the Royal Oman Air Force, along with local citizens.
PACDA officials in North Al Batinah had responded to a report on Wednesday [July 1] of a drowning involving two Omani citizens in Wilayat Saham. One victim was rescued by local citizens and residents on the scene and received emergency treatment by PACDA ambulance crews before being transferred to hospital in a moderate condition.
Since then, search and rescue efforts by police Coast Guard units were concentrated on locating the second individual who was still missing and, today, was since found deceased.
