As Oman News Agency (ONA) reports, the step comes in implementation of Royal Decree No. 29/2018 which bans non-Omanis’ ownership of land plots and properties in some areas.
Statistics from the Ministry of Housing show that the transferred land plots and properties were distributed as follows: 748 in Al Buraimi Governorate, 170 in Musandam Governorate, 228 in North Al Batinah Governorate, 297 in A’Dhahira Governorate, 67 in Al Wusta Governorate, three in Dhofar Governorate (excluding Salalah), and one on Masira Island.
The Ministry has set November 2020 as the deadline for execution of legal action as per the two statutes on transfer of title deeds of properties to Omanis.
