The Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced that 52,072 questionnaires have been completed by parents in Oman, as the government seeks inputs on educational alternatives that will shape how the Sultanate’s 2020/2021 academic school year will operate amid the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement issued online today, the MoE thanked all participants, saying that: “Your suggestions and interest are appreciated, and they will be taken to support the decision that will be issued regarding the mechanism of operating the next academic year 2020/2021.”
The survey put forth four possible options for the operation of the new school year:
— Attending school daily, with reduced numbers of students in classrooms and following all relevant health precautions.
— Identifying classes with educational priority for students to physically attend school, and identifying classes ideal for online learning.
— Having students remain home for the first semester and study via online/distance learning, and return to classes at schools during the second semester in the event the COVID-19 pandemic is controlled.
— Adopting classroom learning at school on some days, and distance learning on other days.
