Oman: ROP foil drug smuggling attempt in Dhofar

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) have thwarted a drug smuggling attempt in Dhofar Governorate over the Eid holiday.

In a statement issued online, ROP authorities confirmed that Coast Guard police boats, led by Dhofar Governorate police, intercepted a smuggling operation off-shore of Al Mughsail.

ROP officials confirmed that three suspects of Arab nationality were apprehended trying to recover a quantity of the stimulant khat from coastal waters. The bust, which took place on May 25, will see all three of the alleged accused face legal action.
