Heavy rains and strong winds are expected to continue over the Dhofar region today [Sunday, May 31] states an updated weather advisory from Oman’s Public Authority for Civil Aviation’s (PACA) Directorate General of Meteorology.
In the notice, PACA states that, in an analysis from the National Multi Hazards Early Warning Center, the governorate could see the tropical depression that has currently been battering the region since Friday continue over the next 24 hours.
As per PACA, wind speeds of between 15-23 knots (27-40 km/hr) are anticipated as the low-pressure system moves westward over the governorate.
Continuous heavy rains between 100-200 mm are also expected, along with flooding of wadis and low-lying and coastal areas, and rough seas.
PACA authorities are advising the public to exercise caution at all times and to avoid low-lying areas, crossing wadis, or going into the sea.
