Oman’s Ministry of Health (MoH) aims to achieve 90 per cent Omanization in overall medical sector roles, with some medical and auxiliary jobs already reaching 80 to 90 per cent Omanization, and 100 per cent in some specialties by the end of 2019.
In a statement issued online today [Wednesday, June 10], Khalid bin Abdullah Al Mandhari, Director General of Administrative Affairs at the MoH and Chairman of the Follow-up Committee for the Implementation of the Omanization Policy said: “The percentage of Omanization among consultant physicians was 72 per cent, and 39 per cent among medical doctors, 65 per cent for nursing and medical laboratory jobs, 94 per cent in pharmacy jobs, 74 per cent in ancillary medical jobs, and 100 per cent in first-aid, safety and sterilization, and environmental health specialties.”
Al-Manzari emphasized that the health sector is one of the vital sectors offering job opportunities to Omani citizens and is working towards gradually raising current Omanization rates in various medical and auxiliary specialties in accordance with the Ministry’s strategic plan for employment.
“The Ministry also hopes to achieve the desired goal of Omanization of all jobs in the future by up to 90 per cent, while ensuring that new employees receive appropriate training and benefit from the long experience of old employees,” Al-Manzari stated.
