The circular, which was issued by Minister of Civil Service, Sheikh Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoon, outlines the following precautionary measures to be followed:

All government employees and visitors must undergo mandatory thermal temperature screenings with scanning devices provided at all entrances.

Employees should wash and disinfect their hands regularly, and avoid shaking hands with others.

Protective equipment such as face-masks and gloves should be provided to all who enter the ministry.

Proper ventilation should be maintained in the workspace, such as keeping doors open.

Personal protective equipment including face-masks, hand sanitizers, and gloves should be used.

Social distancing guidelines should be adhered to and appropriate distances maintained between staff.

— Employees should refrain from sharing stationary, and office-to-office movement should be restricted.

Gatherings should be avoided and meetings reduced as much as possible.

Gatherings for official meetings should be limited and replaced by video conferencing. Or, meetings should be held in well-ventilated, open areas with social distancing guidelines adhered to.

As of Sunday, May 31, up to 50 per cent of government staff have been permitted to return to work as per directives from Oman’s Supreme Committee for COVID-19.
