Oman’s Ministry of Manpower (MoM) has announced today [Monday, June 1] that a mandatory mid-day break for all labourers working outdoors is now in effect.
In a statement issued online, the MoM has advised that all companies operating on construction sites and other open, outdoor areas must implement a mandatory break for workers between the hours of 12:30 p.m. till 3:30 p.m. with immediate effect.
As per the MoM, the directive will remain in place from June through to August 2020 as a health precaution for outdoor workers to avoid the high temperatures and hottest peak hours of the summer months.
