Oman’s Government Communications Centre (GC) has refuted a rumour circulating on social media regarding an increase in fines and stricter punishments for those who violate COVID-19 regulations on family visits or gatherings.
The rumour alleges that the fine for such violations has increased to OMR 2,800, with both the homeowner and the visitor(s) facing jail time.
In a statement issued online, the GC has said that there is no truth regarding an increase in the fine or harsher punishment for violators of this regulation, and that any change in violation fees will be announced through official channels.
