Tax on alcohol products and beverages in the Sultanate will rise from 50 per cent to 100 per cent as of today [Wednesday, July 1].
Oman’s Tax Authority had issued a circular to alcohol distributors in the country on June 10, 2020 advising of the tax increase after a decision was made made in 2019 to implement a 50 per cent tax on alcoholic drinks for a duration of six months only.
Taxable distributors in the Sultanate are required under the Selective Tax Law to disclose the inventory in their possession no later than July 15, 2020.
