Employees over the age of 60 in government companies in Oman asked to retire

Oman’s Ministry of Finance has issued a financial statement (17/2020) directed to all government companies in the Sultanate concerning amendments in employment.

The statement said that changes will be made in regards to labour market and employment policies in government companies in order to accelerate employment processes and accommodate more Omani job-seekers.

The decision stated the implementation of retirement to all employees over the age of 60, as implemented in other public institutions. The decision clarified that no extensions are allowed unless they are “inevitable”.

The Ministry of Finance has stressed the importance of executing this decision to all government companies.
