COVID-19: ROP arrest group in North Al Batinah for flouting Oman’s ban on public gatherings

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) have apprehended a group of people in North Al Batinah Governorate for failing to comply with Supreme Committee directives against public gatherings in Oman amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement issued online on Monday, May 18, ROP officials said that the group in question is accused of allegedly “gathering, practicing sporting activities, and violating the decisions of the Supreme Committee.” The accused have been referred to judicial authorities, and legal action is being taken against them.

Once again, the ROP have cautioned the public to “cooperate, stop gatherings and practicing group sport activities, apply social distancing measures for the public good, and cooperate with the various agencies involved in containing this pandemic.”
