In its statement announced today, the Supreme Committee has confirmed a ban on all Eid-related gatherings in Oman — including Habta markets, Eid prayers, and all forms of celebrations or gatherings as the risk they pose in contributing towards the community spread of COVID-19 constitutes a danger to society.

The Supreme Committee also stated that authority has been given to the Royal Oman Police (ROP) who have been assigned to observe and keep an eye on the public, as well as businesses, in order to ensure compliance with Supreme Committee health and safety regulations.

The ROP have also been empowered with the authority to issue fines to individuals and businesses on-the-spot and remand all those who violate the regulations into custody.

The Supreme Committee stated they will allow a new set of businesses — both industrial and commercial — to re-open, while reminding these companies to be aware of and to adhere to appropriate health and safety measures.

Finally, the Supreme Committee stated that all members of the public must wear face masks while out in public places — including all commercial and industrial locations, all public and private sector workplaces, and when using public transportation.
