As Oman records 1,660 new cases of COVID-19 registered today [Wednesday, July 22] the total number of cases in the Sultanate has now reached 71,547, while recoveries in the nation now stand at 47,922.
Officials at the Ministry of Health (MoH) have confirmed 1,314 new recoveries on Wednesday, while 12 new coronavirus fatalities saw the death toll rise to 349.
Muscat Governorate recorded the highest daily figure for new cases today, with 635 new infections bringing its total to 38,073 with the majority of cases concentrated in the Wilayat of Seeb, which saw 296 new cases today for a total of 14,272.
North Al Batinah saw the second-highest daily tally Wednesday, with 367 new cases — 138 of which were recorded in Sohar — for a total of 11,087 in the governorate. While, South Batinah registered 223 new cases for a total of 7,984.
As per inferences from the latest data on the Tarassud Plus app — Oman’s intuitive mobile app that tracks COVID-19 cases in the country per governorate and by Wilayat, the remaining breakdown of cases among the governorates is as follows:
The governorate of Al Dhakiliyah registered 170 new cases today, for a total of 4,161, followed by South Ash Sharqiyah with 76 new cases (total 2,080), Dhofar with 73 new cases (total 2,653), North Ash Sharqiyah with 56 new cases (total 1,761), and Al Dhahirah with 30 new cases (total 1,393.)
The governorates with the lowest numbers of confirmed new COVID-19 cases today were Al Buraimi, which had 17 new cases for a total of 754, Al Wusta with 12 new cases (total 1,554), and Musandam which reported one new case today among its cumulative total of 47 in the governorate.
