COVID-19: Oman announces nationwide lockdown

Oman’s Supreme Committee for COVID-19 has announced a series of new decisions after convening today [Tuesday, July 21] to discuss developments of the pandemic in the Sultanate.

In a statement issued online, the Supreme Committee has said that a full closure between all governorates in Oman will come into effect from Saturday, July 25, 2020 until Saturday, August 8, 2020.

The decision also included:

— A ban on movement and closure of all public spaces and commercial shops during the period from 7:00 p.m. till 6:00 a.m. will also be in effect during this time.

— During this closure period there will be more police patrols during the curfew hours, along with checkpoints during the morning.

— There will be a continuation of the ban on gatherings of all kinds — especially for Eid prayers, traditional Eid souqs, and any Eid-related celebrations.
