In an interview held this evening [Sunday, May 31] on Oman TV, Minister of Health, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saeedi spoke further on developments in Oman’s COVID-19 situation.

In reference to the decision by the Supreme Committee for COVID-19 to allow 50 per cent of public sector employees to return to the office, His Excellency stated the following:

For those employees with underlying health conditions or employees who are pregnant, their supervisors should find alternatives to having them return directly to the office.

His Excellency, the Minister of Health, also stated that:

There is no evidence that the opening up of some additional permitted businesses and commercial operations in the Sultanate has been directly linked to an increase in the number of cases.

— Thus far 100,181 COVID-19 tests have been carried out by health authorities in Oman amidst the pandemic.

The numbers in rates of recoveries differs from country to country due to the difference in the definition of recovery between these countries.

The only way to avoid the risk of contracting the COVID-19 novel coronavirus is by social distancing and adhering to instructions such as proper hand-washing and the use of face-masks.
