As Oman records 1,142 new COVID-19 cases today [Wednesday, June 24] in the largest single-day spike to date, 626 of them have been registered in Muscat Governorate.
With the total number of coronavirus cases in the country now standing at 33,536, the number of cases in the capital has now reached 23,422.
As of today, Seeb saw the highest daily tally of cases with 271 new cases bringing the total in the Wilayat to 8,186.
While Muttrah, which recorded just 62 new cases on Tuesday [June 23], saw its daily tally nearly triple today [Wednesday, June 24], registering 163 new cases for a total of 6,734 in the Wilayat.
Bausher, which currently has a total of 6,367 new coronavirus cases, saw its daily tally drop down to 98 new cases registered today.
Authorities at the Ministry of Health have confirmed that COVID-19 recoveries in the Sultanate have also risen to 17,972, with 693 new recoveries announced today. Two new fatalities also saw the country’s COVID-19 death toll rise today to 142.
