COVID-19: As cases in Oman cross 56,000, North Batinah records highest daily tally of 550+

With 1,318 new cases of COVID-19 registered in the Sultanate today [Sunday, July 12], total cases in the country now stand at 56,015.

Notably, the governorate of North Al Batinah saw the highest surge in numbers of new daily cases in the country today, with 555 new infections bringing its total to 7,004, while the capital region of Muscat recorded a total of 347 new infections Sunday, for a total of 32,811 in the governorate.

As per inferences from the latest data on the Tarassud Plus app — Oman’s intuitive mobile app that tracks COVID-19 cases in the country per governorate and by Wilayat, the remaining breakdown of cases among the governorates is as follows:

The governorate of South Batinah registered 99 new cases today, for a total of 5,800, followed by Al Dhakiliyah with 92 new cases (total 2,977), North Ash Sharqiyah with 65 new cases (total 1,209), Al Dhahirah with 51 new cases (total 878), and South Ash Sharqiyah with 45 new cases (total 1,414).

The governorates with the lowest numbers of confirmed new COVID-19 cases on Sunday were Al Wusta, which had 30 new cases for a total of 1,451, Dhofar with 16 new cases (total 1,822), Al Buraimi with 16 new cases (total 613), and Musandam with 2 new cases (total 36).
