Oman’s Supreme Committee for COVID-19 met this morning [Tuesday, June 9], in a meeting chaired by His Excellency Sayyid Humood Bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior.
A decision was made to prohibit entry and exit to Jebel Al Akhdar, Jebel Shams, the Wilayat of Masirah, and the Governorate of Dhofar, and to ban any and all tourism activities and gatherings in these areas starting from 12 noon on Saturday, June 13, 2020 until the end of Friday, July 3, 2020.
The Supreme Committee will evaluate the epidemiological situation in each area individually after this time.
The move comes ahead of the peak summer tourism season and in consideration of precautionary measures aimed to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Another decision was taken, in cooperation with the public and private sector, to re-open a new batch of commercial and industrial businesses starting from tomorrow [Wednesday, June 10].
More details will soon be announced by the relevant authorities.
