Under the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, the national public holidays for Eid Al Fitr will start from this Saturday, May 23, 2020, the 29th day of Ramadan 1441 AH, Oman’s Ministry of Manpower has confirmed.
In a statement issued online today [Wednesday, May 20] by Oman News Agency (ONA), the duration of the holiday will depend on two scenarios.
Upon the sighting of the moon, if the first day of Eid Al Fitr falls on Sunday, May 24, then the holiday will go until Tuesday, May 26, with work resuming on Wednesday, May 27.
If the first day of Eid Al Fitr is declared on Monday, May 25, then the holiday will be extended until Thursday, May 28, with work resuming on Sunday, May 31.
As per ONA, the holiday timings are applicable to both the public and private sector in Oman.
