Australia’s Labour government is preparing new rules that would give the country’s 21 million social media users the right to opt out of personalised algorithms. The proposed “digital duty of care” laws would require platforms to let Australian users disable algorithms that tailor content recommendations, making it the first of it’s kind anywhere in the world.

 

A competitive eater in the UK has set three new World Records, including reclaiming her title for the fastest time to eat a burrito, finishing the entire thing in just 30.75 seconds. During a visit to Guinness World Records headquarters in London, she also ate eight churros and 613 grams of strawberries in one minute.

 

A company in the US has launched Twitter.now, reviving the Twitter name after Elon Musk rebranded the platform as X. Operation Bluebird says Twitter’s old branding was abandoned, although X Corporation is challenging its use in court. The new platform promises automated fact-checking and greater user control over content. The legal dispute is still ongoing, and a final decision has not been issued.
