Merge 104.8 | 11 June 2020
The Royal Oman Police (ROP) have clarified renewal policies and procedures on a number of visas types.
Speaking to Merge 104.8, a source at the ROP said that residents in Oman who are under a family visa and their visa has expired, must wait until the ROP service halls re-open to renew it and that the visa-holder will not be subject to fines.
For those residents stranded outside of Oman who hold a family visa and that visa has expired, the ROP have confirmed that renewals cannot be done electronically. Renewal requests must be submitted in-person by the sponsor when the ROP service halls re-open.
For tourist visa-holders in Oman whose visas have expired, the ROP had previously confirmed that it has automatically renewed all visit visa, tourism visas, and express visas for free until June 15.
Also, Oman’s Supreme Committee for COVID-19 further announced today [Thursday, June 11] that the Ministry of Finance and the ROP have agreed to replace those tourist visas issued between March 1, 2020 and August 31, 2020, and to extend their expiry dates until March 2021.
