Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) today hosted its Strategic Partners Forum under the theme “Together For Oman”, bringing together CEOs from more than 30 strategic partner companies and over 250 senior energy sector leaders to strengthen collaboration, supply chain resilience and national capabilities.

Against evolving geopolitical and market challenges, discussions focused on building a more competitive and resilient energy sector through stronger partnerships, local expertise and domestic supply chains. The Forum also marked a new phase in PDO’s Journey of Transformation, extending its focus beyond internal performance to collaboration across the wider sector.

Dr Aflah Al Hadhrami, PDO Managing Director, said: “Our ability to grow production, improve efficiency and remain competitive increasingly depends on the strength of the wider energy sector. Resilience requires strong partnerships, capable local businesses and supply chains that respond effectively to changing operational demands.

“Through our Journey of Transformation, we are strengthening how we operate and collaborate with our partners, building lasting capabilities, creating opportunities for Omani talent and businesses, and delivering sustainable value for Oman.”

A key outcome was a memorandum of collaboration with the Oman Energy Association (OPAL) to develop Omani professionals for specialised technical roles, initially focusing on Mud Logging and Early Kick Detection Services. The initiative aims to increase Omanisation from 40% to 80%, create approximately 150 skilled jobs for Omanis and direct 20% of contract expenditure to SMEs and local community contractors.

PDO also signed a memorandum with ABRAJ Energy Services, Al Baraka Oilfield Services and Galfar Engineering & Contracting to establish a joint safety leadership programme for frontline supervisors, including those from Omani SMEs, strengthening safety practices across the sector.

An exhibition featuring nine Omani SMEs showcased innovative solutions in satellite imagery, artificial intelligence, drilling chemicals, water treatment and additive manufacturing, highlighting local businesses’ growing capacity to deliver specialised energy sector services.

Through the Forum, PDO reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening national supply chains, developing local capabilities and building a competitive, efficient and resilient energy sector in line with Oman Vision 2040.
