In a statement issued online over the weekend, the DBBS has assured the public that all precautionary health and safety measures to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus have been taken by the blood bank in order to ensure the safety of donors.
The DBBS has also renewed its appeal for donations of plasma from patients who have recovered from COVID-19. Since April 14, health authorities in Oman have been implementing convalescent plasma transfusion therapy on coronavirus patients, using extracted blood plasma containing antibodies against the virus from patients who have made successful recoveries.
To book an appointment to make a blood or plasma donation at the DBBS’s Central Blood Bank in Bausher, send a WhatsApp to (+968) 9455-5648.
