Omani student Jawaher Al Hadidi who got full marks in her Grade 12 General Diploma exams said that time management and enjoying the courses and family support are the key behind achieving her record-breaking results.
Al Hadidi, who studies at Balla School in Barka said that she had mixed feelings once she received her grades.
“I was a bit scared and surprised. I felt it is not real and kept reading the marks again and again,” she said, talking to Merge 104.8’s sister station Al Wisal.
This year in Oman, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, second semester grades were calculated using a special pro-rated system. However, Al Hadidi had also received 99.56 per cent in the first semester.
“I worked very hard trying to find more innovative methods and techniques of studying,” she says. “There are lots of ways — but not all of them fit every student.”
She explained that she spent every spare moment improving her knowledge on all subjects, giving all of them the same amount of attention.
“During the second semester, we had a feeling that we will not be tested again, so I spent my time developing my English, reading, and presentation skills,” she says.
Al Hadidi has been accepted to study medicine at Sultan Qaboos University.
“People say we are lucky because coronavirus made it easier for us this year — but there are many negative sides to it. We didn’t have the time to say goodbye to our friends and teachers, nor to celebrate our graduation properly. We have lost all these emotional moments,” she expressed.
Al Hadidi added that, after COVID-19, she will gather with her friends and colleagues to celebrate their graduation.
