As the Royal Oman Police (ROP) continue to crack down on those who would infringe upon COVID-19 health and safety regulations in Oman, their efforts have led to a further spate of arrests and legal action taken against violators across the Sultanate since yesterday [Monday, May 25].
In statements issued online, ROP officials have confirmed the following legal measures against individuals held responsible for the following infractions across various governorates:
North Al Batinah Governorate
— A violation fine has been issued against those involved in the illegal operation of a men’s tailor shop.
— Two groups of citizens have been detained for gathering in a public place, and administrative fines have been levied against them.
— A number of expatriates have been detained for practicing tailoring in violation of Supreme Committee directives and have had administrative fines issued against them.
South Al Batinah Governorate
— A number of violation fines were issued against individuals failing to wear face-masks in public.
Al Dhahirah Governorate
— Violation fines were issued against individuals for failing to wear face-masks in public, as well as fines issued against several shops in the governorate for failing to comply with Supreme Committee directives concerning selected activities allowed to operate.
ROP officials have confirmed that all the reported infractions above were found to be in direct violation of the Supreme Committee for COVID-19’s decisions and conditions which aim to limit the spread of coronavirus in the country.
