Launched on May 12 as a joint effort between the Ministry of Health (MoH), Mwasalat, and Sinyar Oman, these standalone mobile testing centres are helping reach some of the governorate’s most vulnerable populations in those areas most hard-hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement issued online by the MoH, over the weekend, the Directorate General for Health Services in Muscat activated a screening bus in the Wadi Kabir area of Muttrah Wilayat, conducting on-the-spot registration and testing of local residents.
In its statement, the MoH elaborated that the support of the mobile testing service helped to reduce the workload of the Wadi Kabir Health Center — a move that aims to help “achieve more efficiency, as well as increase the pace of work.”
The mobile testing unit vehicles are set to make rounds in those areas targeted on the epidemiological map, and will host facilities onboard for triage services and testing.
Three additional Mwasalat buses have been allocated to transport those with COVID-19 symptoms to testing centres, and are currently operating along the following routes:
— The isolation area of Al Hamria to the Visa Medical Examination Center in Darsait.
— Ghala Industrial Area (Khimji Warehouses)
— Al Mabela (Ministry of Heritage & Culture Compound)
