In a statement issued online, the MoH said that the hotline will receive enquiries from women of child-bearing age, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers and offer virtual consultancies about their health situation that may mitigate the need for them to visit a health centre and help reduce their potential exposure to the COVID-19 novel coronavirus.
As per the MoH, the hotline will also offer consultancies on preventive measures for women who are pregnant or nursing and are worried about the risks of COVID-19. The initiative was launched out of a need to support pregnant women and nursing mothers who need care but have reservations about visiting a hospital or health centre during the current circumstances.
The hotline service is available to all women in Oman, both citizens and residents, and can be availed by calling 2444-1999.
