In a statement issued online today [Sunday, May 17], the MoI has confirmed that current elected municipal officials will remain in their posts until such a time as a new election is called.
The MoI also elaborated further that the postponement comes in light of the ongoing global COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and efforts to further reduce its spread in the Sultanate. The Ministry has said that it will announce the new timings for the elections at a later date.
