Violators of Quarantine and COVID-19 Guidelines To Receive Hefty Fines!

According to the Supreme Committee’s latest decision, travel and tourism agencies and hotel establishments that do not use the Sahala platform will be fined RO 2,000 and repeat violators will risk having their operations suspended for one month.
Other violations and fines that were put in place include:
- Failure to register on Sahala platform and not activating the monitoring devices issued by the concerned authority – RO 2,000
- Failure to contact health institutions to treat isolated cases that require medical intervention – R0 1,000
- Failure to inform ROP and Relief and Shelter specialists of cases that violate institutional isolation requirements – RO 1,000
- Allowing isolated individuals to leave the facility, move between rooms, or permitting outside visitors – RO 1000
- Increasing rents for hotel rooms designated for institutional quarantine – RO 500
- Failure to maintain cleanliness and quality of services – RO 500
- Isolating more than one person in one room – R0 1,000
- Failure to designate 3% of rooms in the facility for COVID-19 cases – RO 1,000
- Failure to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines – RO 1,000
Also, in an effort to minimize the impact of the COVID-19 crisis, Muscat Municipality has decided to waive municipality taxes from several entities including hotels, tourist restaurants, cinemas, and amusement and entertainment centers, until December 2021.
