Stricter laws, regarding using a mobile phone while driving, were introduced on Monday. The Public Prosecution said, in a statement released online, that using hand-held electronic devices while operating a vehicle is now punishable by up to 10 days of imprisonment and a fine OMR 300.
Overtaking at road shoulders without a justifiable reason will also be punishable by imprisonment of up to two months and/or a fine of OMR 500.
