UK retail and supermarket chain Sainsbury’s is set to make inroads into the Omani market as Sohar Port and Free Zone announces that the brand has joined its free zone holdings.
In a statement issued online, Sohar Port and Free Zone said: “We are pleased to announce that the prestigious Sainsbury Group has joined the Sohar Free Zone under the brand name ‘International Distribution Network’.
It is considered one of the finest brands in the United Kingdom and one of the largest retailers with more than 1,400 branches and 12,000 products that will be launched in the markets of the region.”
The move by Sainsbury’s to join the Sohar Port and Free Zone could potentially have a trickle-down effect in helping entice other global multinationals to choose the Sultanate as their logistics base in the region.
