Emergency teams in Haima Hospital responded to a car accident on the road leading to Salalah yesterday, in which eight people were brought in.
Of the eight, two were pronounced dead, one was critically injured, and the remaining five suffered only minor injuries.
An official from the ROP said that while several deaths have been reported during this year’s khareef season, the numbers have decreased when compared to past years. He added that while some accidents do take place due to negligence, other factors cause accidents as well, such as a lack of vehicle maintenance and fuel checks, and ignorance of fatigue among drivers.
