The Met Office issued a tropical storm alert today, saying that topical storm “Shaheen” is likely to intensify into a category 1 cyclone in the next 24 hours.
According to reports, it is expected to move towards the coastal areas from Muscat to north Al Batinah and it should make its landfall by Sunday, October 3rd.
The Civil Aviation added that the storm will have a direct impact on the coastal areas from Muscat to North Al Batinah starting from Sunday, which includes strong winds and heavy rain. The coastal areas between South Al Sharqiya to Musandam are expecting rough seas starting from tomorrow evening.
Authorities warned the public to take the necessary precautions, stay away from wadis and beaches, and keep themselves informed on the latest weather updates.
