Sayyid Khalid bin Hamed Al Busaidi launched a digital competition in search of ‘The Golden Talent’ and after reviewing the initial 1,982 submissions, he connected with the top 88 participants live on Instagram during the highly anticipated ‘Social Media Knockout Round’.
The nightly social media show was conducted each evening over the course of a two-week period and included 12 different categories including: piano, instrumental, crafts, local poetry, classical poetry, sports, photography, singing, calligraphy, expressive arts, writing, and painting.
During this time, Sayyid Khalid and his large social media following watched participants perform live, vying for a spot in the next round. Voting lines opened up each night for the next week and the audience had the chance to vote for their favourite participant via SMS. A total of 9,235 votes were received and the money raised via SMS votes will be donated to UNICEF Oman, who will use the money to fund youth training programs in Oman.
The Final is set to be held next week at a private event at the German University of Technology in Oman to see who will win the title of ‘The Golden Talent’.
The first place winner will be awarded 5,000 OMR , followed by 3,000 OMR for second place and 2,000 OMR for third place. Winners will then donate 10% of the cash prize to a local charity of their choice.
Held in collaboration with Nissan Oman, Purshottam Kanji Exchange, iddesignoman.com and Al Wisal FM – the digital competition aims to bring together hundreds of likeminded individuals. The competition aims to showcase the most talented and artistic individuals in Oman whilst also providing a platform for more unusual talents.
