Merge 104.8 hosted the premiere of the new Jack Black movie Anaconda last night. It’s about a group of friends who head to the Amazon to remake a film for fun, but things quickly go wrong when they come face-to-face with a real, deadly giant anaconda. The movie hits VOX cinemas across Oman from tomorrow.
The UK is the latest country considering a social media ban for under-16s and watching how it plays out in Australia. PM Keir Starmer is being briefed on the idea, as Australia already blocks teens from major platforms and fines companies that don’t comply, aiming to protect young people online. Platforms that could be affected include Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and YouTube.
A pirate activist group has reportedly scraped and uploaded Spotify’s entire music library. Around 86 million tracks — about 300 terabytes of data — are now circulating online. Spotify says there was unauthorised access, saying that a third party pulled public metadata and used techniques to get around its digital rights protections.
