A press conference was held today to announce the return of Oman’s biggest annual sporting event, the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon.
The event will take place on February 11-12, 2022 in Al Mouj Muscat, and it will be divided into several categories including the 42.1 km full marathon, 21.2 km half marathon, and the 10 km marathon, which will all take place on the first day of the event. The second day will host the kid’s race (3km, 2 km, and 1 km) as well as the 5 km charity run.
Organizers also announced that Sabco Sports is now managing the big-scale event, in collaboration with Oman Sail.
The Vice Chairman of Sabco Group Sayyid Ayman Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, assured that the necessary COVID precautions will be followed during the event, which include mandatory vaccinations for entry. The group’s managing director Nic Cartwright said that he hopes this event will inspire people to lead healthier and more active lifestyles, adding that COVID has shown people the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle, especially when it comes to fighting off diseases and illnesses.
