Sir Elton John had a $7 million boost to his fortune after resuming his farewell tour. His business saw its value leap in 12 months after he played a series of Covid cancelled gigs. The figures cover the 12 months to the end of March last year and include 26 dates in the US. Elton had to postpone his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in March 2020 when the world went into lockdown.

 

Jaafar Jackson is to portray his uncle, Michael Jackson, in an upcoming biopic called “Michael”. The film is set to depict the complicated life of the man who was known as “the king of pop”. The project has the go ahead from the Jackson family with production set to begin this year. The film’s studio said it would include “his most iconic performances that led him to become the greatest entertainer of all time”.

 

Facebook has asked a London tribunal to block a collective lawsuit valued at up to £3 billion over allegations the social media giant abused its dominant position to monetise users’ personal data. Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is facing a mass action brought on behalf of around 45 million users. But Meta say the lawsuit was “entirely without merit” and should not be allowed to proceed.
