A copyright court case that alleges Ed Sheeran copied a Marvin Gaye hit is currently underway in the US. The jury will be asked to decide whether parts of Let’s Get It On were copied in Ed Sheeran’s 2014 song Thinking Out Loud. His legal team have said the two songs “share versions of a similar and unprotectable chord progression that was freely available to all songwriters”.

 

James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke has come to an end after 8 years. Adele joined him for the feature in his last week as host of the The Late Late Show. Carpool Karaoke quickly became the show’s breakout feature, with his first team-up with Adele becoming the biggest viral video of 2016. To date, it has generated more than 260 million views.

 

Netflix have announced they will invest $2.5 billion in South Korea over the next four years to produce Korean TV series, movies and unscripted shows. South Korea’s president welcomed the investment as a “major opportunity” as the country seeks to boost its cultural exports and influence. “Squid Game” remains the most-watched series of all-time on Netflix, having racked up 1.65 billion hours of streaming in the first 28 days.
