Although it was released a little over a year ago, Amouage’s Guidance Eau de Parfum has already become one of the esteemed Omani High Perfumery House’s most adored creations. Composed by perfumer Quentin Bisch, under the direction of Chief Creative Officer Renaud Salmon, it reinterpreted the Amouage triad of Rose, Frankincense and Ambergris, whilst adding its own unmistakable blend of Pear, Hazelnut and Sandalwood. Earlier this year, a new, more boldly contrasted incarnation of the scent was introduced to The Guidance Collection in the form of Guidance 46 Exceptional Extrait. And now The Guidance Collection continues to expand with the creation of a Luxury Body Line consisting of a Body Lotion and a Hair Perfume – two new ways to experience the beguiling magnetism of Guidance.
The Concept
For Renaud Salmon, the development of these creations was an opportunity to showcase the treasures and riches of Oman. “We decided that if we were going to offer body products to go with one of our perfumes, then they should reflect, in a very clear and meaningful way, the heritage of the land that inspires all our fragrances.”
In the case of the new Guidance Luxury Body Line, the connection with Oman was Frankincense. An ancient resin, with proven health benefits, that has been harvested in the country for centuries. Indeed, the variety and quality that grows in the region is widely accepted as being the finest and most precious in the entire world.
“The challenge,” explains Salmon, “was to stay faithful to the personality of the original Guidance Eau de Parfum, while allowing the Frankincense to bring something subtly novel to it. We wanted the two additions to extend the story of the perfume and add a different layer, or a different facet, to the experience of wearing Guidance.”
The result is a new expression of the mystery at the heart of Guidance. Each possesses a unique personality and can be enjoyed on its own, but they can also be worn in combination with each other and, of course, with Guidance Eau De Parfum or Guidance 46 Exceptional Extrait, in order to enhance and deepen the complexity at the heart of this most alluring of compositions.
“We believe,” says Salmon, “that we are proposing a duo of truly interesting and worthwhile additions to The Guidance Collection. Gorgeous, high-quality products which genuinely complement the existing perfumes, but also bring their own charm and beauty to the world of Guidance. Their scent is familiar, but at the same time, they allow us to fall in love with Guidance as though we’ve never experienced it before.”
The Body Lotion – 360 ml
Nourishing. Hydrating. Sensual.
Designed to be non-greasy, lightweight and easily absorbed, Guidance Body Lotion contains glycerin to provide long-lasting nourishment and hydration. The presence of Frankincense oil emphasises the sweet fruit notes of Guidance Eau De Parfum, lingering on the skin with luxuriant sensuality.
The Hair Perfume – 50 ml
Nurturing. Enveloping. Seductive.
Containing a much higher percentage of perfume oil than would normally be found in a hair scent product, Guidance Hair Perfume nurtures, protects and strengthens the hair, thanks to the inclusion of Pro-Vitamin B5 as well as Resisthyal, an active ingredient that enhances shine and softness. The addition of Frankincense oil brings out the more diffusive facets of Guidance Eau De Parfum, creating an irresistible trail of scent around the wearer.
Presentation
Drawing inspiration from the iconic Amouage emblem, the bottles for both products in the Guidance Luxury Body Line feature a fluted design which balances the House’s heritage with a modern, forward-thinking aesthetic. The matte cashmere colour reflects the earthy, timeless hues of the Omani landscape. The subtly pink shade of the text on the bottles is a nod to the colour of the Guidance flacon.
