Targets set for Omanization in fishing, mining sectors

Oman’s Ministry of Manpower (MoM) has issued two new ministerial decisions related to the percentages for Omanization in private sector establishments within the country’s fishing and mining sectors.

In a circular issued to media today [Sunday, June 28] by the Ministry, decision 168/2020 states that targets for Omanization of jobs in commercial fishing, aquaculture, and fish industries will be set at 15 per cent in 2020, 20 per cent in 2021, 25 per cent in 2022 and 2023, and 35 per cent in 2024.

While ministerial decision 169/2020 states that, for the mining sector, targets for Omanization of technicians, skilled and semi-skilled workers, specialists, and senior roles in private sector companies are 25 per cent in 2020, 28 per cent in 2021, 31 per cent in 2023, and 35 per cent in 2024.
