Supreme Committee Clarifies Exemptions To Upcoming Lockdown Decision

The Supreme Committee made some clarifications regarding exemptions to the decision to ban commercial activities from May 8 to May 15 from 4 am to 7 pm, and implement a night lockdown during these hours.
Activities that will be allowed to operate in those days before the 7 pm curfew:
- Central markets that sell fruits, vegetables and fish (at a 50% capacity)
- Slaughterhouses (at a 50% capacity)
- Gas stations, including tire and vehicle repair shops and express shopping stores found inside the gas stations (maximum capacity of 3 customers at a time)
- Fishing boat repair shops and shops selling fishing accessories
- Health institutions, Veterinary clinics, pharmacies and eyeglasses stores
- Foodstuff stores including:
– Grocery stores
– Stores that sell meat, poultry, or fish
– Stores that sell Omani halwa
– Stores that sell dates
– Stores that sell sweets
– Stores that sell spices
– Store that sell nuts
– Stores that sell mineral water
– Stores that sell ice cream and corn
– Stores that sell fruits and vegetables
– Stores that sell juice
– Hypermarkets, but only the parts that sell foodstuff, meat, fruits and vegetables. Other parts of the hypermarket should remain closed (at a 30% capacity)
Activities that will be allowed to operate, but without receiving customers physically:
- Construction and contracting companies (allowed to work at the facility site after 7 pm, provided that workers remain within the work site)
- Auditing and accounting offices
- Transport and storage companies
- Translation offices
- Insurance companies
- Support centers
- All consulting companies
- Shipping and clearance offices
- Law firms
- Post companies
- Money exchange and finance companies (allowed to work after 7 pm, with the exception of auditor’s halls which are to remain closed, except for necessary transactions which will be determined by the Central Bank of Oman)
Activities and individuals excluded from abiding by the 7 pm to 4 am curfew:
- Health workers, emergency vehicles, and emergency services (electricity and water only)
- Private hospital employees
- Pharmacy employees who are on night shifts
- Port and airport traffic employees
- Drivers of trucks weighing three tons and over and drivers of water and sewage tanks
- Workers in factories and those working in loading and unloading operations in factories and warehouses (only allowed to move within the factory during curfew period)
- Fuel station employees on night shifts
- Workers in oil fields
- Public and private media employees (only those whose work requires them to physically attend their workplace. The Ministry of Information will provide them with a permit)
- Health inspectors, technicians, and holders of judicial police capacity (they should have permits from their employers with them)
- Hunters, beekeepers. And workers in food labs (they should have permits issued to them by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources)
- Employees in restaurants, cafes and street vendors (only delivery personnel will be allowed to move around)
Home delivery services will be allowed during this period for
- Restaurants, cafes and street vendors (customers will not be allowed in)
- Any commercial activity not mentioned above will be granted permission to work within the facility (customers will not be allowed in, but can pick up goods or opt for delivery services)
