1 dead, 56 rescued during recent storms

56 people needed rescuing and one 15 year old boy died during the recent storms that hit Oman. The PACDA says their control room received 115 distress calls during the period. The boy was found dead after he went missing from Wadi Al Hoqain in Rustaq.

The Ministry of Education suspended classes in all schools in Muscat, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Dakhiliyah and North Sharqiyah due to the adverse weather.

Heavy storms lightning and hail storms hit most parts of the Sultanate including Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, and areas along the north coast. Traffic signals and street lighting were  disrupted and motorists urged to be careful while crossing intersections.  Muttrah Souq in Muscat was flooded for the second time in two weeks forcing shops to close shutters and minimise damage.
