Heavy storms have hit the Sultanate, and rain will continue until this evening, Oman Meteorology forecasts. Three people have been rescued so far PACDA says; two from Sharjat Hing valley and one from Al Sen. Sohar University is also closed due to the bad weather.
Musandam, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, and Muscat witnessed heavy rainfall flash floods and thunderstorms. Temperatures have also fallen.
According to PACA, Mahdha received the highest amount of rainfall – 46.8 mm – followed by Nakhl (35 mm) and Bidbid 27 mm.
Among other areas, Saham received 19.4mm of rains, Dibba (18.2 mm), Buraimi (14 mm), Suhar 13 (mm), Bukha (12mm) and Bausher (9.4 mm).
The Royal Oman Police has urged citizens and residents to take safety measures during the rains and not to risk crossing the valleys and wadis.
