Speaking to Merge 104.8 today [Monday, June 15], a source at the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has confirmed that visit and express visa-holders in the Sultanate will have their visas extended automatically until June 30, 2020.

The move comes after a previous announcement by the ROP that these visa types would be considered automatically renewed up until June 15. The decision to extend this validity period by an additional two weeks comes in an effort to assist holders of visit and express visas in Oman who have not been able to exit the country due to airport closures.

On Thursday, June 11, Oman’s Minister of Tourism, H.E. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mahrizi, announced that the Ministry of Tourism, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and the ROP, has agreed to replace those visas issued between March 1, 2020 and August 31, 2020, and to extend their expiry dates until March 2021.
